National Traffic System (NTS)
During disasters or other emergencies, Radiograms are used to communicate information critical to saving lives or property, or to inquire about the health or welfare of a disaster victim... The current National Traffic System is comprised of dedicated operators well trained and practiced in the art of traffic handling. They participate in nets at the local, section, region, and area levels 365 days per year. --ARRL.org
Lancaster County ARES makes time during our bi-weekly Lancaster County ARES Net to send and receive NTS Traffic. Everyone is welcome to check into our net "with traffic for NTS". You do not have to be a proficient traffic handler to give sending a message to someone. This is all about training! We are very lucky to have Roger N3GE on our team as our NTS Liaison.
The ARRL Radiogram is used to draft your message in the proper format, so that it can be moved through the NTS. The image to the left links to a pdf fillable Radiogram "blank", which when saved to your computer, can be opened in a browser or pdf program.
Check out the ARRL NTS Webpage for more information on writing your Message, as well as learning more about how the National Traffic System works.
